design
process

Tim Miller delivers a comprehensive garden design service from initial concepts through to the finished garden.

every garden space is unique and each client's design brief and aspirations are different, but the process through which the design evolves broadly remains the same.

This begins with a meeting on site to gain a thorough understanding of how you currently use your space, what you hope to achieve from a new design, and to broadly get a feel for your design 'likes' and 'dislikes'.

For most projects a topographical survey will be required to gain an accurate study of levels, locations of trees, pathways, garden buildings etc. On receipt of this survey the concept phase of the project begins with sketch plans, elevations, 3D drawings and mood boards developed.

We then meet again to view and discuss those initial ideas and drawings – the feedback and decisions enabling me to either firm up or adapt the design accordingly.

If you agree to progress to the next phase of the project I work to compile detailed working drawings including a masterplan, plant layout drawings, irrigation and lighting layout drawings, material specifications and construction drawings, all of which will enable a landscape contractor to price up the project or for you to go out to tender if you don't already have a contractor in mind.

The next stage is the build of your garden which I will oversee to ensure that the design we have created is built to the highest standard. I will also source plants from the many nurseries I have established trusted relationships with and will oversee the setting out of the plants on site.

I will always be excited to see how your garden evolves and would be more than happy to continue working with you offering ongoing support and advice.
