This garden in Surrey has been completely reimagined for outdoor living with changes of levels, contemporary hard landscaping and feature planting.

the brief for this Surrey garden required a complete overhaul and redesign of the existing garden.

For this challenging site with a deceptive slope and north facing aspect, the client asked for a clean-edged, architecturally contemporary design to meet the family's needs, the focus being a sunken area for outdoor entertaining. Composite decking steps descend from the kitchen terrace to a lower paved area with a feature wall fireplace and seating. More steps lead up to a sculptural pathway of stepping stones set in Breedon gravel.

The planting design is similarly contemporary and architectural with feature groupings, clipped box and pleached trees for privacy. The lawn area has a 'Zen' bench which covers an existing paved area.

This garden was designed in collaboration with Brian Herbert of Outdoor Options.
